HISTORY OF LUMINARIASLuminarias first appear historically around the 16th century, as a Spanish tradition of lighting bonfires along the roads and churchyards to guide people to Midnight Mass on the final night of the celebration of Las Posadas.Today, luminarias and farolitos have become an American holiday tradition and a southwestern tradition of welcome. As well as the traditional paper bags with candles, modern day versions also include the electric luminarias or farolitos.I make my version of this lantern with clay and glass that gives the same illuminating effect. I hope you enjoy my of this wonderful tradition as well as my New Orleans themed designs to light any holiday or gathering.Bringing New Orleans Tradition to your home.Thank you,Laura BianchiniLocal New Orleans Artist New Orleans Glass Accents
